At Alpha, students in grades K-2 complete academic learning through AI-driven applications in two hours daily. No traditional lectures. No printed worksheets. Half your time is spent facilitating one-hour workshops focused on life skills: public speaking, sustained attention, and constructive feedback exchange. A structured playbook guides these sessions, but top performers customize it for their specific group and create new exercises when gaps appear. The remaining half involves individual or small-group coaching sessions where you analyze Coachbot data and guide each student toward achieving 100% of weekly app targets. Building genuine connection gives you permission to set high expectations. Those expectations communicate your confidence in their capacity.

Success in a quarter means every student completes weekly app goals, passes the Test2Pass assessment for all life-skills workshops, and 90%+ report they love working with you. Fall short on any single metric and the quarter is incomplete. Your first year focuses on mastering the playbook; after demonstrating you can maintain standards, advancement to Lead Guide becomes available—a role where you mentor incoming coaches while continuing to lead your own cohort.

What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-2 cohorts covering public speaking, sustained focus, feedback skills, and other foundational competencies, customizing the playbook to fit your group rather than delivering it verbatim.
• Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that maintain every student's trajectory toward weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's motivational tools (campus currency, performance leaderboards), and the trust you establish with each child.
• Delivering the Test2Pass, Alpha's mastery-based evaluation, for each life skill, then coaching students through retakes until they demonstrate mastery.
• Engaging kindergarteners with age-appropriate methods—songs, storytelling, physical activity, and playfulness—while maintaining concrete, measurable expectations for first and second graders.
• Serving as both the enthusiastic adult children are excited to see each morning AND the adult who consistently refuses to accept less than their best effort.

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering whiteboard instruction. Academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you.
• Developing curriculum independently. Alpha supplies the playbook; your role is to execute and adapt it.
• Passively monitoring students on devices. Motivation in this environment is direct, individualized, and sustained.
• Reducing weekly targets to accommodate a struggling student. When students fall behind, the intervention focuses on the student, not the goal.
• Assessing homework, preparing for standardized tests, or handling parent correspondence. Campus Leads manage parent interactions, and those other tasks don't exist at Alpha.

Student Success Coach Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your K-2 cohort completes weekly learning targets, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year reporting they loved their experience with you.

Basic Requirements

• Available to work on-site at an Alpha campus located in La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, Miami, or Miami Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; or Boston, MA (relocation assistance provided).
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4 to 7 (early-elementary instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program coordination).
• A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a young child toward a challenging objective: the objective itself, your actions, and the result.
• Comfort allowing AI to deliver instructional content while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development.
• Commitment to maintaining high expectations with students even when met with resistance.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in youth sports coaching, children's theater, camp program leadership, Montessori or progressive early childhood education, or after-school programs where you held direct responsibility for motivating young children toward defined objectives.
• Personal track record of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), such that holding others to demanding standards reflects your established pattern rather than an adopted stance.
• Natural performer's instinct with young children: capacity to command a room of kindergarteners through vocal energy, physical humor, and dynamic presence.
• Proven ability to transform hesitant or resistant young children into engaged, confident contributors.

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
