Job Description

POLICE OFFICER
CROSSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Qualified candidates will be required to pass a preliminary background check and will be contacted individually for information to complete the preliminary background check. If approved, candidates of interest will be contacted to appear before a panel of officers for an interview.


The Police Officer position will start at an annual salary of $36,233.60 for a non-certified police officer (trainee).

A POST certified police officer will start at an annual salary of $45,922.24 with a 5% salary increase at the conclusion of 6 months ($48,339.20).

The job of Police Officer is a full-time position that includes a full benefits package. Benefits include health, vision, dental, life insurance, retirement, paid holidays and paid personal leave.

The City offers TCRS's (Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System) Hybrid plan as the retirement benefit.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be a high school graduate or possess a GED. No waivers will be granted for minimum education requirements.
  • Never been convicted of, pled guilty to, or entered a plea of Nolo Contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of Federal or State laws or City ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substance.
  • Never been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States.
  • Have his/her fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
  • Pass a post-employment offer physical and drug screen by a physician chosen by the City of Crossville.
  • Be free of all apparent mental disorders as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental
  • Disorders, Third Edition (DSM-II) of the American Psychiatric Association.
  • Pass a psychological exam by a psychiatrist or psychologist appointed by the City of Crossville.
  • If applicant is not certified, they must be able to attend and complete the Basic Police Academy.
