A privately owned automotive parts business in the Greenwood, IN area is seeking a hands-on Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Lead to take full ownership of core accounting functions. This is a key role within a stable, growing small business where you will not only manage the books but also contribute ideas, identify opportunities, and help the business operate more efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations with full ownership and accuracy
• Perform journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet)
• Oversee and maintain fixed asset schedules, including depreciation tracking
• Conduct daily/weekly bank reconciliations and cash management
• Handle credit card reconciliations and discrepancy resolution
• Process ACH payments, check runs, and vendor communications
• Manage sales tax reporting and compliance
• Support year-end close and coordination with external CPA

Payroll & Reporting

• Process weekly payroll (15–20 employees) with accuracy and compliance
• Maintain payroll records and ensure timely tax filings
• Provide regular financial reporting and insights to ownership

Financial Oversight & Business Support

• Assist with cash flow tracking and forecasting
• Support budgeting and financial planning efforts
• Partner with leadership to provide clear financial visibility and decision support

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $60,000–$70,000

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Bookkeeper, Accounting Lead, Accounting Manager, or similar role
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Payroll processing
• Journal entries and GL management
• Financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Depreciation schedules / fixed assets
• High proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
• Strong attention to detail with an ownership mentality
• Ability to work independently in a small business environment
• Experience in automotive, manufacturing, dealership, or inventory-heavy businesses is a plus
• A proactive mindset with a focus on improving processes, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency
