Nanny / Family Assistant (Part-Time, Flexible) – New Canaan, CT. (The hours change in September to 3 later days. So, this could be a temp job, starting at 8:30 a.m. – till September- or a long-term job if you can work a flex schedule later on.) There are 5 weeks of travel before the fall.

About the Family

A warm, busy, and welcoming family in New Canaan is seeking an experienced, proactive Nanny / Family Assistant to support their three children (ages 7, 5, and 2.5) while helping to maintain a well-organized and smoothly run home.

  • 7-year-old girl : Currently in 2nd grade and very outgoing. She enjoys art, music, and sports.
  • 5-year-old boy : Energetic and active, attending a full-time preschool program (5 days/week) with after-school activities, including swimming and racquet sports. He loves outdoor play and trips to the park.
  • 2.5-year-old girl : Curious and engaging, attending preschool 2 days per week (ending at 11:45 AM). She is developing her communication skills and enjoys activities such as the YMCA, library visits, swimming lessons, outdoor play, chalk art, bubbles, and following along with her older siblings.

Position Overview

This role is a blend of:

  • Hands-on childcare
  • Household support
  • Family assistant duties

All three children will be in school full-time beginning Fall 2026, and the schedule will naturally evolve to include more household management and family support during school hours.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday (structured, ~36 hours/week)
  • Typical start time: ~8:30 AM (some flexibility required)
  • Occasional evenings for coverage
  • Occasional weekends and overnights (pre-scheduled)
  • Flexibility to shift hours as needed
  • Travel with family (domestic and occasional international)
  • House sitting when family is away (a plus)

Key Responsibilities

Childcare

  • Provide attentive, engaging care for three children
  • School drop-offs and pick-ups
  • Transport to activities, sports, and appointments
  • Support routines, structure, and development

Household & Family Assistant Duties

  • Light housekeeping (tidying, organization, children’s areas)
  • Meal planning and light family cooking
  • Grocery shopping and errands
  • Organizational projects (closets, pantry, toys, etc.)
  • Assist with general household flow and efficiency

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with toddlers and school-aged children
  • Comfortable managing multiple children and schedules

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license (car provided for work use)
