GeniusXLab, a leading IT consulting and digital transformation company headquartered in Avalon, Texas, is seeking to hire a Junior Software Engineer to join our team.
GeniusXLab partners with startups and enterprises worldwide to design, build, and scale technology that advances their business. From early-stage MVPs to complex, production-grade platforms, we transform ambitious ideas into software engineered for performance and longevity. Our services span artificial intelligence and machine learning, data engineering, web and mobile development, UI/UX design, MVP development, cloud and DevOps, API integration, and product strategy consulting. With proven experience across healthcare, e-commerce, insurtech, and other industries, we bring a cross-industry perspective to every engagement we take on.
While GeniusXLab delivers strong technical outcomes for our clients, our culture is built around the people who make that possible. As a growing company, we invest deliberately in early-career engineers, giving them real ownership, structured mentorship, and a clear path toward becoming long-term technical leaders. This mission complements a company culture grounded in curiosity, accountability, and steady, sustainable growth.
At GeniusXLab, we're redefining what it means to grow a junior engineer into a strong technical contributor. We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and, over time, contribute directly to client-facing projects. This is a role for someone early in their career who learns fast, asks good questions, and wants meaningful ownership of real work from day one.
Working alongside senior engineers, you will help build and maintain full-stack features, support the development and testing of APIs and services as product requirements evolve, and steadily take on larger, less-scoped pieces of work as you prove yourself. You will participate actively in standups, planning sessions, and code reviews, absorbing feedback and applying it quickly, while building strong secure coding and data-handling habits from the start. As you grow, you will increasingly interact with teammates and clients directly, so clear spoken and written English communication is essential. The pace is energetic, the learning curve is steep, and your growth is the point of this role.
The ideal candidate is resourceful, communicative, and accountable — someone who digs into unfamiliar stacks and problems before asking for help, keeps teammates and stakeholders informed and aligned, and follows through on their work, mistakes included.
**Technical Foundation:** Foundational knowledge of at least one front-end framework (React, Vue, or Angular) and one back-end technology (Node.js, .NET, or similar), with the ability to build and debug real features under guidance.
**API & Web Fundamentals:** Solid understanding of how RESTful APIs work, including how to consume, test, and help build them as part of a full-stack feature.
**Programming Fundamentals:** A solid grasp of core data structures and hands-on experience with version control using Git, including branching, pull requests, and collaborative workflows.
**Communication Skills:** Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the confidence to participate actively in standups, planning discussions, and code reviews.
**Learning Agility:** A self-driven, curious mindset with a demonstrated ability to pick up new tools, frameworks, and stacks quickly and independently.
**Collaborative Attitude:** A genuine willingness to receive, internalize, and act on feedback from senior engineers and peers.
**Quality Mindset:** Familiarity with writing and running basic tests, with an eye toward reliable, clean, and readable code rather than just working code.
Your success and growth in this role will be shaped by three key pillars:
**Technical Ownership:** Progress from small, well-scoped, closely guided tasks to owning meaningful features end-to-end, applying secure coding practices, testing discipline, and clean code habits as second nature rather than afterthoughts.
**Collaboration & Client Readiness:** Build the communication and technical fluency needed to contribute confidently in standups and planning sessions, and eventually participate directly in client conversations as a trusted member of the delivery team.
**Problem-Solving Range:** Develop the resourcefulness to tackle unfamiliar technologies, ambiguous requirements, and evolving client needs with scrappy, creative, and increasingly independent problem solving.
