Job Description

 

The Director of Spa and Wellness will oversee Folklore, our brand-new spa that features a pool, 12 treatment rooms, massage therapists, aestheticians, spa coordinators, spa attendants, pool attendants, a bar, and retail space. This strategic leadership role is responsible for creating and implementing exceptional spa and wellness experiences that promote relaxation, health, and well-being. The Director will manage day-to-day operations and lead a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing outstanding service to all guests.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Spa Development and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive spa concept and wellness strategy that aligns with Whim Hospitality's brand and vision.
    • Oversee the launch of Folklore, ensuring all facilities, treatments, and services are operational and meet industry standards.
  • Operations Management:
    • Manage daily operations of Folklore, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure smooth functioning.
    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest service in all areas of the spa, pool, and retail spaces.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Recruit, train, and mentor a skilled team of massage therapists, estheticians, coordinators, and attendants.
    • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and exceptional service delivery.
  • Financial Management:
    • Prepare and manage the spa budget, monitoring revenue, expenses, and profitability to achieve financial goals.
    • Develop pricing strategies for treatments, services, and retail offerings, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Guest Experience:
    • Ensure a seamless and personalized guest experience from appointment booking to service completion and follow-up.
    • Implement feedback mechanisms to monitor guest satisfaction and continuously improve services based on client input.
  • Marketing and Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to design and execute promotional strategies for Folklore's services and offerings, including retail products.
    • Coordinate events and special programs to draw in guests and promote wellness initiatives.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with operations, sales, and event planning teams within Whim Hospitality to integrate wellness programs effectively.
    • Build partnerships with local wellness practitioners and businesses to enhance service offerings and guest experiences.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations in all spa operations and services.
    • Implement policies and procedures that promote a safe and healthy environment for both guests and staff.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Hospitality, Health Sciences, or a related field; certification in spa management or wellness preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in spa management or wellness program development, with a strong background in luxury or resort environments.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on talent development and delivering exceptional guest service.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with guests, staff, and stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to design and implement financial strategies, analyze performance, and manage budgets effectively.
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of spa and wellness trends, treatments, and best practices, along with knowledge in retail management.
