Job Description
GDIT has an immediate opening for a Army Watercraft Systems Engineer supporting Worldwide Field Sustainment operations for the United States Army Watercraft Program. The selected candidate will provide senior level engineering, sustainment, modernization, and technical management support for Army Watercraft Systems operating worldwide.
This position supports shipboard electronic and electrical systems aboard Army vessels to ensure mission readiness, regulatory compliance, lifecycle sustainment, and modernization of communications and navigation systems. The selected candidate will serve as a technical lead supporting CECOM C5I Sustainment government leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering analysis, sustainment support, and modernization recommendations for Army watercraft electronic and electrical systems.
- Lead and train senior and junior technicians supporting Army vessel sustainment operations.
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for contractor personnel and installation activities.
- Monitor readiness and operational performance of Army Watercraft Systems worldwide.
- Research obsolete systems and provide engineering recommendations, retrofit strategies, and assistance in the development of Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimates.
- Develop engineering assessments, readiness reports, and modernization documentation for government leadership.
- Lead retrofit and modernization projects supporting vessel mission upgrades and regulatory compliance.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS), Navigation Systems, Communication Systems, and GMDSS.
- Coordinate cable routing, equipment foundations, and modernization installation activities.
- Coordinate sustainment projects with Vessel Support Organizations located in Hawaii, Fort Eustis, and Japan.
- Support maintenance operations at the CECOM C5I Maintenance Support Facility Annex and Integrated Lab and Training Facility.
- Support worldwide travel requirements up to 50 percent in support of operational missions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering with 8 years’ experience in Marine Electronic Sustainment Repair, or Degree Equivalent consisting of a minimum of 12 years of Marine Sustainment Repair experience supporting US Army/ Navy/ Coast Guard vessel’s electronic, C5ISR systems.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Experience supporting US Army Watercraft Systems (AWS) modernization, maintenance and repair projects for the vessel’s Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Navigation Systems, Tactical and Commercial Communication Systems, and Global Maritime Distress Safety Systems (GMDSS) per Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, power converters, power regulators, uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) and shipboard cabling standards.
- Experience in interpretation and compliance with technical configuration drawings, government agency regulations and manufacture and military technical documentation.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, contractors, and field installation projects.
- Strong troubleshooting, systems integration, maintenance management, and configuration control experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills supporting senior government leadership.
- Established experience in performing steering alignments of voyage going deep sea and costal vessels, i.e. US Army Logistic Support Vessels (LSV), Landing Craft Utility (LCU) and Small Tugs (ST) vessels.
- U.S. Drivers Licenses and within 90 days of hire a Valid US passport.

- Anschuetz Navigation Advance Steering or Steering 1 and 2 Certification
- Anschutz Auto Pilot 5000 Series Certification
- Anschutz Synapsis ECDIS and Radar System Certifications
- Anschutz STD 22/ STD 22 NX Gyrosphere Certification
- Anschutz Training in NSC Radar and ECDIS Systems
Preferred Training and Certifications

- Electrical Wiring Installation and Repair Training
- 2D Drawing experience
