About Mirror Ministries

Mirror Ministries’ mission is to respond to domestic minor sex-trafficking with the love of Christ through local education, intervention, restoration, and aftercare. Mirror Ministries works throughout Benton and Franklin counties to provide training, education, and awareness to local schools, agencies, and businesses. A team of advocates, counselors, and volunteers provides intensive case management through counseling, therapeutic services, mentors, and survivor support groups at the Mirror Ministries Outreach Center and Esther’s Home. Mirror Ministries is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to serving people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Sex-Trafficking Victim Advocate Job Summary

The Mirror Ministries’ Sex-Trafficking Victim Advocate provides local schools, agencies, and businesses with training, education, and awareness of sex-trafficking. The Advocate does purposeful outreach to identify victims of trafficking hidden in our community, including a 24/7 sex-trafficking hotline. The Advocate walks hand-in-hand with victims/survivors of sex-trafficking, showing them that there is hope and help while connecting them to needed services, and walking alongside them on their journey of healing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent advocacy for victims of sex-trafficking in Benton/Franklin counties from pre-disclosure through restoration by building trust and rapport
  • Embrace and promote Mirror Ministries’ vision and mission in the community
  • Provide innovative, trauma-informed, wrap-around-based, intensive case management for victims identified through local agencies, outreach, referral, or the hotline
  • Manage intake, create individualized goal plans, and maintain progress notes for each client, including follow-up interviews every six months
  • Proactively pursue client’s care
  • Maintain case notes and files in an orderly, up-to-date manner, and assist in improving the efficiency of reporting, maintaining clear confidentiality policies
  • Assist clients in accessing resources to help meet their individualized goals. Advocate on their behalf with government organizations and community services to increase their opportunity for success
  • Develop creative means of outreach and engagement for victims of CSEC
  • Do proactive outreach to find victims of commercial sexual exploitation
  • Manage and respond to the Mirror Ministries Hotline in rotation with other staff and volunteers
  • Work as a partner with other agencies in town, accessing a network of services for victims and bringing training where needed
  • Attend applicable activities (local, travel, & online)
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, quarterly Board meetings, and MM training days

Qualifications

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is required to effectively communicate with clients
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human/Social Services or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience in Advocacy and/or Social Services, preferably in the role of Advocate, Case Manager, Counselor, or Mediator in the area of Human Trafficking/CSEC, Victim Services, or related fields
  • Knowledgeable on the issues surrounding Commercial Sexual Exploitation
  • Knowledgeable on complex trauma and the impact of complex trauma on the brain
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and implementation of trauma-informed care
  • Ability to diligently seek and reach out in creative ways to find victims of trafficking to offer them hope and support
  • Experience and willingness to conduct presentations and training to large groups
  • Ability to respond to crisis and/or escalated behavior with calm and confidence
  • Detail-oriented, able to build forms, processes, and systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to organize, discern, and problem-solve creatively and under pressure
  • Demonstrate initiative in researching and accessing relevant resources in the community
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and able to respond to leadership directives promptly
  • Familiarity with Tri-Cities agencies, law enforcement, and service providers preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and a clean driving record

  • An active and vital relationship with Jesus and be part of a supportive faith community outside of Mirror Ministries.

Position: Full-time

Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour (plus on-call stipend)

Schedule: Varies, dependent on client needs. Some evenings and weekends are expected, in addition to typical 8 am-5 pm weekdays (within 40 hours/week).

Location: Based out of Mirror Ministries Outreach Center in Kennewick, Washington, but many clients will be met in the community at various locations, and education and outreach are done in the community.
